Tucked away in a secure unit near Ford’s Dagenham plant is a fleet of active press cars that you may well have heard about before. Providing a rolling archive of Ford motor vehicles, the Ford Heritage Collection currently stands at 117 vehicles and, rather incredibly, features models that span across more than a century of production.
It’s important to understand that this isn’t a museum, and neither is this place open to the public. Most of the cars here can be (and regularly are) put through their paces by journalists and staff.
Meticulously maintained and shockingly original, the collection includes plenty of chassis #01 cars and many ‘last off the line’ models along with some of the most historically significant race cars to wear the blue oval.
Below I’ve compiled a gallery of shots from the day. Quite a few of the collection’s cars were on loan during the visit – so if you see any obvious models missing, chances are they were simply out being appreciated elsewhere!
Huge thanks to Ford UK and all at the Heritage Collection for showing me around.
